What Athletes See

This page is a coach reference: a quick map of what your athletes experience on their side of the platform, so you can answer their support questions and configure their settings confidently. Athletes interact with IronCoaching through two surfaces:
  • The athlete portal — a web view at ironcoaching.app/client/dashboard that they get when they accept a coach invite.
  • The IronLedger mobile app — iOS and Android, where they log workouts, attach form-check videos, and receive push notifications.

The athlete portal

When an athlete signs in, they land on /client/dashboard. The sidebar exposes:
SectionWhat’s there
DashboardRecent activity summary, current program, latest weekly review
SessionsTheir workout history with per-set details
ProgramsActive and historical program assignments
ReviewsWeekly reviews from their coach + their own submissions
GoalsStructured goals you’ve assigned (Pro+ only)
SettingsProfile, plan, integrations, notification preferences
Notification bellLive alerts for new program assignments, video feedback, weekly review responses, and coach messages
The notification bell mirrors the coach’s bell — tap any item to deep-link to the source page.

Profile editor

Athletes can edit their display name and bio from Settings in the athlete portal. The display name is what you see in your client list, marketplace coach-request messages, and every chat thread. Encourage athletes to set both early — a blank profile makes it harder for you to keep clients straight at scale.

Sign-up and onboarding

Athletes who arrive via a coach-profile link, the marketplace, or a direct /signup?intent=athlete URL get an athlete-specific signup flow. Athletes who arrive via the generic /signup URL see a role toggle (Coach / Athlete) and an explicit role chooser on /onboarding if their first signin doesn’t disambiguate. They will not be trapped in the coach-only onboarding flow. If an athlete signs in from the wrong context (e.g. they accidentally clicked a coach signup), they can switch from Settings → Switch to Coach Dashboard. The same toggle works in reverse for coaches who also coach themselves.

Per-set form-check videos

Athletes attach short form-check videos to specific sets inside a completed session via the IronLedger mobile app. See the Per-Set Form-Check Videos page for the full flow.

Weekly reviews

Athletes can submit their own video responses to your weekly reviews through the same review composer they see on the portal. See Weekly Reviews.

Notifications

Athletes get push notifications via IronLedger and email notifications for:
  • New program assignment or program replacement
  • New coach message
  • Coach video feedback on a set, session, or weekly review
  • Health alerts firing (Pro+ coaches only — see Health Alerts)
Notification preferences are configurable per-channel in the athlete’s Settings → Notifications page.

Privacy

Athletes own all their data. When you remove a client (see Removing Clients), they retain access to their own workout history and personal records. The coach-client link is severed; nothing is deleted from the athlete’s account.
